Every employee is the driving force behind the organization's success, as they contribute their skills, creativity, and dedication to achieving the company's vision to help people experience a better quality of life in their own homes.

3. How does your company ensure transparency and open communication between management and employees, fostering a sense of trust and belonging?

At BAYADA, we prioritize transparency and open communication between management and employees to cultivate a workplace culture rooted in trust and belonging. Here's how we ensure this:

Quarterly Employee Experience Surveys:
Conducted regularly to establish a robust feedback loop between managers and employees.

A minimum of five responses is required for any group, ensuring psychological safety.

Individual responses are confidential, held with our third-party vendor, and not shared internally. Aggregated results, however, are transparently shared across the organization.

Directors and above have access to results for the entire organization, facilitating transparency in understanding employee sentiment. This access empowers leaders to listen, learn, and act on employee feedback, ensuring informed decision-making even in complex organizational structures.

Year-End Performance Reviews:
Dedicated time is allocated for managers and employees to engage in meaningful discussions about performance strengths and areas for improvement.

These reviews serve as a platform for constructive dialogue, reinforcing transparency regarding individual performance expectations and development opportunities

Development Planning/Career Conversations:
Initiated in Quarter 1, these conversations allow employees to discuss their career aspirations with managers, fostering openness about professional growth and development goals.

Guidelines and Resources for 1:1 Conversations:
Dedicated time is allocated for managers and employees to engage in meaningful discussions about performance strengths and areas for improvement.

These reviews serve as a platform for constructive dialogue, reinforcing transparency regarding individual performance expectations and development opportunities.

Initiated in Quarter 1, these conversations allow employees to discuss their career aspirations with managers, fostering openness about professional growth and development goals.

Employees have access to guidelines and resources for effective one-on-one conversations.

Resources on giving and receiving feedback are available, promoting a culture of openness and constructive communication.

4. How does your company handle feedback and suggestions from employees? Is there a system in place for employees to voice their concerns or ideas?

At BAYADA, we prioritize and actively encourage open communication and feedback from our employees. We have established a comprehensive system that allows employees to voice their concerns, share ideas and contribute to continuous improvement. Here's how we handle feedback and suggestions:

Quarterly Employee Experience Surveys:

• Conducted regularly to facilitate two-way communication between employees and management.
• Employees have the opportunity to highlight successes and suggest solutions for areas of improvement.
• This regular survey mechanism ensures ongoing dialogue and allows us to address concerns promptly.

Compliance Hotline:

• Our Compliance Hotline provides a confidential channel for employees to report any concerns related to ethical or compliance issues.

• This anonymous avenue ensures that employees feel secure in bringing forth sensitive matters.

1:1 Conversations with Managers:
• Regular 1:1conversations between employees and their managers provide a personalized and direct platform for sharing feedback.
• This approach allows for a more intimate and tailored discussion on individual concerns and suggestions.

DEIB Mailbox:

• Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Mailbox serves as a dedicated space for employees to share feedback and suggestions related to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• This ensures that we are continuously evolving to meet the diverse needs and expectations of our workforce.

DEIB Experience Survey:

The DEIB Experience Survey provides a specialized avenue for employees to express their experiences and perspectives regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization.

HR Care Center:

• Our HR Care Center is a central hub where employees can reach out for support, guidance, and assistance with any workplace-related concerns.
• This resource ensures that employees have access to a comprehensive support system.
• Through these channels, we actively encourage our employees to share their insights, concerns, and innovative ideas. This commitment to open communication helps us continually enhance our workplace environment, ensuring that BAYADA remains a place where every voice is heard and valued.

5. How do you approach fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization?

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is promoted through many ways at BAYADA. From monthly DEIB webcasts, to DEI Newsletters, and E-learnings, we aim to reach all employees where they are. Our DEIB program sponsors six thriving Employee Resource Councils that focus on LGBTQ+ initiatives, racial and ethnic equality, support for employees with disabilities, women in leadership, active military and veterans, and religious diversity.

The ERCs actively engage our employees from Vermont to Hawaii, and monthly celebrations supporting key topics focusing on minority and underrepresented groups give our employees a plethora of opportunities to get involved and have their voices heard. Last year we began a new Supplier Diversity program, which leans into our core values as an organization and strives to reach out to businesses owned by racial and ethnically diverse individuals, women, people with disabilities, veterans, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and other historically marginalized groups to foster an inclusive procurement practice and strengthens community partnerships.

In addition, we have a robust internal DEIB resources page for all employees with access to hundreds of DEIB-related articles, books, podcasts, and informational materials.

6. Can you share examples of successful diversity and inclusion programs or initiatives that have positively impacted the company culture?

Employee Resource Councils (ERCs) are employee-led groups that play a pivotal role in supporting DEIB initiatives within our organization. Aligned with six distinct demographics, these councils enhance the employee experience through a multifaceted approach. Our ERCs organize enriching events that celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and promote cross-cultural understanding. They also provide valuable leadership development opportunities and mentorship, empowering employees to reach their full potential within the organization.

In 2023, our ERCs embarked on a remarkable journey, ushering in a new cohort of dedicated employees holding the torch high for old and new initiatives alike. Throughout the year, their efforts culminated in a series of impactful events and initiatives that left a lasting impression on our organization and the communities we serve.

In addition, in 2023, our DEIB office offered 45 DEIB trainings to more than 2682 employees on • Accessibility • Disability Etiquette • Gender Equity • Generational diversity • LGBTQ+ inclusion • Racial Equity • Religious Diversity

7. How do you work to create a sense of belonging for employees from diverse backgrounds?

In 2024, we added the work BELONGING to our DEI(B) office name. We offer a two-hour information session to all offices on BELONGING. In this interactive session focused on building trust, teamwork, and a sense of empathy, we also give the teams the following suggestions to continue to build belonging in their teams:
• Build a supportive environment that is a safe space
• Understand the differences between true belonging and fitting in
• Check in with each other, professionally and personally
• Develop your own self-awareness
• Celebrate self-identity, be who you are and not who you think people want you to be
• Have the courage to be vulnerable and embrace other's vulnerability
• Be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback
• Encourage open communication and give people a voice who are feeling ignored
• Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Regular team-building activities
• Diversity and inclusion initiatives
• Consider creating "User Guides" for all team members
• Embed DEIB in weekly meeting cadences
• Get involved in our Employee Resource Councils

8. How do you ensure that DEI is embedded in the company's values and not just seen as a checklist item?

The DEIB team aligns their strategy, goals, and annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the organization's strategic priorities and infuses the work into everything our employees do every day. From weekly Key Action discussions (to keep connected to our purpose and mission-driven culture, we created a weekly ritual that carves out intentional time for employees to reflect on and discuss the key actions of The BAYADA Way that impact our daily work), to updates in the company's employee newsletters, the distribution of information is intentional and targets all employees, without being overwhelming.
