e-Interview

In a conversation with Newsweek, Kevin Chan Bradley, vice president Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community, answered the following questions:

1. Can you provide an overview of your company's workplace culture and values, and how they contribute to a positive work environment?

Our culture is best defined through our Core Values. Our Core Values

• ENTREPRENEURSHIP - We encourage innovation and educated risk-taking.

• INTEGRITY - We do the right thing every time.

• TEAMWORK - We work together to maximize results.

• ACCOUNTABILITY - We measure and take responsibility for outcomes.

• SERVICE - We serve our customers, communities, and colleagues.

HUB is a collaborative, warm company and, as reflected in one of the pillars of our DEI strategy, we strive every day to be a culture where all employees feel seen, heard, valued, and respected.

2. How does your company promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace? Are there any specific initiatives or programs in place?

Our strong, inclusive culture is promoted by our employees. Over the past two years our employees have formed two Employee Resource Groups: the HUB Women Network and the HUB Black Inclusion Network. We also have several other employee groups that are actively contributing to our inclusive culture: Abilites Voices, Asian & Pacific Islander Voices, Hispanic Voices, Indigenous Voices, Military Veterans and Families Voices, and Pride Voices. And we are excited to share that at the me of this submission our employees are working to establish a Young Professional Voices group.

We also have regional DEI Councils which are run by business leaders and are geared to specifically address DEI issues and topics that are more local in nature.

These groups all host educational and awareness-building webinars that are open to all employees, and we o􀅌en invite our clients and carriers as well. These are grass root groups talking about issues that are important to them.

3. Are there any professional development and growth opportunityties available to employees? How does your company support career advancement?

HUB has a vast array of courses that are available to all employees, including leadership development topics. We offer training for first-time leaders and rising talent and are in the process of expanding our leadership development offerings to address all stages of leadership. While career development opportunities exist today within our offices, we are creating more robust tools and resources to help employees pursue new roles across the organization. Our women's ERG has launched a successful mentoring program pilot that we expanding to reach more women. In summary, talent development is a critical priority for us, and we are making significant investments in this area.

4. What measures does your company take to support employee mental health and well-being?

Our health benefits are geared to support the entire employee, from physical well-being to mental health. Our employees can leverage EAP as well as through one of our vendors, mental health experts that are available at a moment's notice. Our ERGs and Voices groups, particularly Abilities, HUB Women Network, Pride, and Military Veterans and Families have also hosted workshops on mental health topics like suicide rates amongst the veteran and LGBTQ community and caring for caregivers.

5. How does your company ensure transparency and open communication between management and employees, fostering a sense of trust and belonging?

Open door communication has been a part of the HUB culture from the very beginning. Our leaders are accessible to all employees, and we encourage idea sharing and innovation.

6. How does your company celebrate and recognize employee achievements and milestones?

As with many things, HUB takes a "glocal" approach to employee achievements. We have annual national celebrations for top sales performers. We celebrate Employee Appreciation Day every year which involves our local leaders treating employees to special celebrations to recognize everyone's contributions to our success as a company. Locally our leaders have different reward programs to recognize things like outstanding contributions and work anniversaries.

7. How do you recognize employees and ensure they are compensated fairly as they grow with your company?

Our compensation policies and practices are assessed by our Compensation experts to ensure equity, fairness and compliance.

8. How does your company encourage and support employee engagement and empowerment?

HUB offers employees an opportunity to express concerns and give their opinions of the company through engagement surveys and pulse surveys. Actionable items are the responsibility of leaders post survey to continue to ensure we have an inclusive and engaged workforce and workplace. As mentioned earlier, our ERGs, Voices Groups, and Regional DEI Councils are also ways to encourage engagement and empowerment.

9. What types of employee benefits and perks does your company offer? How do these contribute to overall job satisfaction?

We offer a comprehensive array of valuable benefits to protect the health of our employees and their families. In the US, HUB offers five different medical plans that provide comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage, in addition to dental and vision coverage. We also provide a number of voluntary benefits which complement our health care coverage (i.e., accident and critical illness insurance) and address other needs that our employees and their families have (i.e., auto & home insurance through VIU by HUB and pet insurance.)

HUB provides matching for employee retirement savings and our employees have a variety of paid time off, including five weeks of paid parental leave in the US.

Our benefits are continuously evolving to meet the changing needs of our employees today and in the future.

10. How does your company handle feedback and suggestions from employees? Is there a system in place for employees to voice their concerns or ideas?

While we have an anonymous ethics hotline, we strongly encourage a transparent open-door culture at HUB. We encourage idea sharing and innovation from our employees and our leaders are accessible.
