A video has gone viral showing one family's genius trick to bring their fully decorated Christmas tree out of storage in one smooth sweep, leaving social media users speechless.

While many people spend hours—or even days—decorating the Christmas tree and adorning their house in lights, one TikTok user has amazed the internet with his hack to avoid all the hassle. Instead of going into the basement to get the tree and boxes of decorations out, TikTok user @cowboy330330 simply opens a hatch in the floor and uses a crank mechanism to raise the decorated artificial tree into its rightful position every year.

This family certainly seems to have won Christmas with this novel approach to decorating, and it has left social media users stunned. Since the clip was shared online on December 4, it's gone viral with more than 11.7 million views and 1.2 million likes at the time of writing.

When it comes to decorating for the holidays, many Americans are faced with the difficult decision of choosing between a real Christmas tree or an artificial one. According to a YouGov poll that was conducted in 2022, 45 percent of U.S. adults prefer a reusable tree, whereas 39 percent would opt for a real tree.

As for why so many Americans prefer an artificial tree, 46 percent of respondents said they're better for the environment, and 60 percent believe they're more affordable.

The results also show that women are more likely than men to prefer a fake tree at Christmas, with 52 percent compared to 38 percent. Men in their thirties are most enthusiastic about choosing a real tree, but the YouGov survey found a shift in preferences at around 50 years old, at which point, they show more preference for artificial ones instead.

What Do TikTok Users Think?

After the clip of the Christmas tree being raised from the basement went viral, the feat of engineering certainly astonished millions of internet users. Needless to say, those who hate the thought of decorating for hours on end were incredibly jealous of this contraption.
