A heavily pregnant mom has gone viral after returning home from work to a surprise that left her in tears.
In a post shared on Threads, an “exhausted” Jessica Reyes (@__jessicvreyes) explained that she’s eight months pregnant, raising a toddler and working full time. When she arrived home one day, she quickly realized something was different.
Newsweek reached out to @__jessicvreyes via direct message on Instagram.

Her mom, who has a key to the house, had quietly stepped in while she was at work. Every load of laundry was done. The bathroom and floors were spotless. Dirty dishes had been washed, trash taken out and the home reset in a way that felt nothing short of miraculous.
“I cannot explain the gratitude,” Reyes wrote, adding that she felt deeply thankful to still have her mom—and for the kind of mom who shows up without being asked.
At the time of writing, her post has received over 10,000 likes and shares. In the comments, many other parents reflected on the often unseen but life-changing support mothers provide, especially during early parenthood.
One new mom shared that she had given birth just two weeks earlier when her husband became seriously ill.
Her own mom stepped in, cooking dinners, cleaning the house, doing dishes, caring for the baby between feeds so she could sleep, and even preparing easy-to-grab snack packs. She described feeling incredibly grateful during one of the most overwhelming weeks of her life.
Another commenter shared cherished memories from years earlier, when her mother would travel to visit her while she was raising young children.
She recalled being sent to nap while her mom took over—caring for the kids and making dinner—and waking to the smell of cooking and the sound of her children chatting happily with their grandmother.
Though her mom has since passed away and her children are now adults, she said the comfort of those moments has never left her.
Several parents shared similar experiences of relying on their mothers as part of their “village,” including one mom currently away on a 10-day work trip who said she has complete peace of mind knowing her mom is at home with the kids. Even while walking with a cane, she said, her mother’s love and willingness to help never waver.
For Reyes, the moment carried even deeper meaning. Her mother had once been the one who desperately needed support herself—helping raise an older child in Cuba, then later navigating motherhood largely alone in the U.S. without her own parents nearby for decades.
That longing, she explained, shaped the kind of mother she became: one who pours into her children without hesitation.
