A new mom is going viral on social media after sharing how she manages to stay active postpartum—without leaving the house.
Lauren Lawton (@laurenlawton123) posted a clip on TikTok walking on a walking pad while her 14-week-old daughter, Maeve, is strapped to her chest.
The 27-year-old wrote on the text overlay: “How do you look so good postpartum? I make no excuses.”

Lawton, who is also mom to 18-month-old Orla Ann, explained that hitting 10,000 steps a day has helped her to lose weight, especially during the colder, darker months when getting outside feels harder.
Her relationship with fitness began long before motherhood. About four years ago, she started exercising to lose weight, strength training and running regularly. Over time, the motivation shifted.
As she began seeing results, she realized how much better movement made her feel mentally. “I could go to the gym in a horrible mood and then come out and feel amazing,” Lawton told Newsweek, adding that walking and running outdoors had the same effect.
When she became pregnant with Orla Ann in 2024, Lawton said she was flooded with warnings about what she supposedly shouldn’t do.
Rather than stopping completely, she focused on staying active in a way that felt safe and sustainable, knowing her mental health depended on it. She trained until the day before giving birth, something she said made her proud.
After delivery, she took four weeks off intense workouts and focused on daily walks—sometimes with her baby in a carrier, sometimes with the stroller and her dog, Rocco. Those walks quickly became non-negotiable.
Lawton said she struggled with postpartum depression after her first child, and getting outside for fresh air made a noticeable difference.
Six months later, she discovered she was pregnant again. The news came as a shock, but she followed a similar routine, prioritizing walking and movement throughout her second pregnancy.
After another positive birth experience, she returned to gentle walks, this time with one baby in the stroller and the other in the carrier.
For Lawton, postpartum exercise doesn’t mean perfection—it means adaptability.
“If it’s raining, I will still go on the walking pad, if my baby is crying, I will put her in the carrier and walk with her as she loves the carrier it sends her to sleep,” she said. “If I’ve had no sleep or loads of sleep I will still get out for a walk, it’s good for me and the kids.”
Her clip has gone viral on TikTok, amassing over 457,000 views. In the comments, many users praised the new mom for taking the time to work out.
"Get it girl!! Baby will add extra weight as well," one user wrote.
"I bet the baby sleeps as soon as you take a few steps," another added.
Many others had questions about her routine and shared their experiences with walking for weight loss.
"I lost 30kg postpartum and honestly was a lifesaver getting one of these," one user commented.
Lawton said people often tell her she’s “lucky” or that she’s “bounced back,” but she disagrees. Staying active, she explains, is a conscious choice. Taking an hour to move helps her feel happier—and when she’s happier, her children feel it too.
“It’s not being lucky,” she said. “It’s me making sure I take priority for myself sometimes, even though I’m a mom, I’m still Lauren too.”
