A video of a baby found tickling a dog's tongue with his foot during a car journey has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was posted by @kelseysick and has garnered more than 8.9 million views since it was shared on May 20.
The caption shared with the post simply says: "A boy and his dog." The video shows a view of the baby laying in a child safety car seat. One of the baby's feet is poking out of the seat, with his toes touching the tongue of a dog that is peering over the backseat with its mouth open and tongue out.

The pup's gentle demeanor around the baby in the viral clip is not surprising because "the vast majority of dogs readily accept infants after an initial period of adjustment and curiosity," veterinarian Ernie Ward noted in an article for VCA, the animal hospital chain.
However, some canines might see a baby as "a strange mammal" or even as potential prey, and dogs that have never seen a baby may not consider them humans. So, even with "normal, nonaggressive" family dogs, the following basic precautions should be taken before they are introduced to a baby, as outlined by Ward.
- Make sure your dog can obey basic sit, down, and stay commands in a distracting environment.
- Simulate activities that will occur once the baby is present in the house.
- Introduce your pup to the scent of the new baby before bringing the infant home.
- Bring the new baby into the home while your dog is confined.
- Allow your dog to see but not get near the baby during the first visit.
- Let your pup approach the baby under close supervision.
- Have your dog to roam freely through the house in the presence of the baby while being closely supervised by adults.

Viewers on TikTok were delighted by the adorable interaction captured in the viral clip.

Lady-Nerol commented: "That is the most kid thing I've seen a kid do."
