Actress and comedian Maya Rudolph reminisced about her time on "Saturday Night Live" and what it was like to return as a host during Wednesday's episode of "The View."

Rudolph appeared on the weekly live sketch show for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 and portrayed iconic characters such as Donatella Versace, Beyonce and Vice President Kamala Harris. She said her beloved roles would not be possible without the crew members behind the scenes that "make magic happen."

"The costumes and the wigs nail it so well that I feel like once you're dressed, I feel like 'Oh, I believe I am this person, truly,'" Rudolph said.

Since 2007, she has made several guest appearances and hosted the show three times. Her most recent hosting gig was last weekend. Rudolph reflected on the experience.

"It's very exciting to come back as the host because it's something you know, but then you get to make decisions," Rudolph said. "But I forgot how hard it was."

She was "exhausted" after hosting the show because she was out of practice.

"I was not acclimated, so going back for a week, I'm going to need a week's worth of rest," the comedian joked.

Rudolph's voice will be featured in the movie "IF," where she plays an animated pink elephant. The movie, directed by "The Office" star John Krasinski, focuses on the concept of imaginary friends of "IFs."

"John Krasinski is a dear friend and I think he is an incredible filmmaker, and I will always say yes," Rudolph said. "And this movie is so sweet and it's for everybody. It's for kids but it's also for all of us who were kids too."

Another project Rudolph is working on is season two of the Apple TV+ comedy series "Loot." She was joined by her costar, comedian Joel Kim Booster, on "The View."

In the series, Rudolph plays a billionaire trying to decide how to spend her money while Booster plays her assistant.

"It is really fun to pretend to be a billionaire, absolutely," Rudolph said. "It feels like a magical world and you feel like anything is possible, anything can happen. Our characters have a very fun dynamic."

Booster said he has learned a lot from starring alongside Rudolph on the series.

"Getting to stand this close to Maya Rudolph and watch her do that, it is like a master class," Booster said.
