Toys "R" Us is ramping up its U.S. presence just in time for the 2025 holiday shopping season, announcing the opening of eight flagship stores and 20 seasonal holiday shops nationwide. The map and full list below show the stores' locations.
The expansion, in partnership with Go! Retail Group, brings the toy retailer back into the spotlight after years of restructuring and signals a major comeback for nostalgic shoppers and new customers.
Why It Matters
The rollout follows Toys "R" Us' 2017 bankruptcy and subsequent store closures, which erased its presence from the national retail landscape. Now under the ownership of WHP Global and in partnership with Go! Retail Group—whose CEO Gideon Schlessinger called it "an important step in our expansion strategy"—the brand's return aims to recapture its historic role as a holiday shopping destination. The expansion follows several largely unsuccessful revival attempts.

What To Know
The expanded footprint of Toys "R" Us now includes both permanent flagship locations and temporary holiday pop-ups.
Each will stock popular brands, including LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, NERF, and Paw Patrol, and promises a "joyful, easy-to-shop experience" hallmarks of the brand since its founding more than 70 years ago, a company press release said.

Toys "R" Us are yet to say when the flagship stores will open.
The nationwide rollout is the latest in a series of comebacks orchestrated by WHP Global after acquiring the brand in 2021. The expansion leverages Go! Retail Group's experience operating pop-up stores, while specialty partnerships—like Toys "R" Us shops inside Macy's and new military base locations.
What People Are Saying
Toy industry analyst and consultant Scott Steinberg told Newsweek last month: "Incredibly, years after its pullback on retail real estate, Toys 'R' Us is benefitting from an upswing in interest in the brand, and collectible items such as toys, action figures and plush dolls that are helping remind audiences of happier times, and in many cases providing a quick one-way trip back to the days of their youth."
"There's still plenty of runway for the iconic retail brand," he added. "It just needs to make sure growth is careful and measured, and that it doesn't overextend itself as it might have in the past."
The Toy Association CEO Greg Ahearn previously told Newsweek "The toy industry is certainly impacted by tariffs, but Toys 'R' Us has proven it can adapt—especially through its partnership with Macy's, both in physical stores and online."
Executive Vice President of Toys "R" Us at WHP Global Jamie Uitdenhowen said in an October 16 press release: "This next phase of growth brings the magic of Toys 'R' Us to even more communities across the country—just in time for the holidays—and delivers the joyful shopping experience that has made us a trusted destination for generations."
What Happens Next
Additional openings are expected to be announced throughout the season, the brand's owners have said. For a complete and regularly updated store map, shoppers can visit the official Toys "R" Us store locator.
