A man who spotted a box stuck underneath a truck is being hailed a hero after people discovered the contents sitting inside.
Reddit user JessBeeBlue explained in a March 1 post to the subreddit channel r/cats how her husband flagged down a motorist who was about to drive off in Burnaby, British Columbia. He saw a box stuck under the person's truck. Thankfully, he stopped it in time. When they worked to get the box unstuck they discovered three tiny kittens inside.
Her husband called her to explain what happened. He said the person driving had zero clue the box was there to begin with and she "was in shock."

The couple agreed to bring the kitties home, at least until they figured out the next step. They took the kittens to the vet, who said they were all healthy. The vet did advise the couple to keep the kittens for at least a month while they grew.
Part of the caption reads: "I definitely wasn't planning on my year starting out this way, but sometimes fate works in mysterious ways."

Since the rescue, the couple adopted the long-haired black female cat to a friend and after much deliberation, they decided to keep the siamese cat and the short-haired black cat, naming them Coco and Tobi.
The wife shared in the Reddit post she always wanted a cat, but they were "apprehensive" about bringing one home as their pit bull, Turtle, never met a feline. That sentiment quickly changed as soon as they saw Turtle fall in love with the kitties. She said Turtle "took on the papa role so fast it's insane!"

Within three days, the Reddit post amassed over 33,000 likes and 833 comments.
"Thank you to your animal hero husband who cared to check it out!!" said one Redditor.
Another added: "They're gorgeous kittens. Thanks for giving them a home!"
A third person commented: "Your husband was the miracle that these little kittens desperately needed. I'm so happy he noticed them, took action, and their lives were saved as a result."
Others thought of this experience as a lesson for drivers: "When I took driver's ed in high school back in 1995, my teacher told us to never drive over a box in the road because you just don't know what's in it and it might be a box of kittens. It always stuck with me and it is one of my worst driving nightmares. I'm so glad these kitties are okay!"
