A wingman is a powerful dating resource—but what happens when they take it a bit too far?
A video posted to TikTok by Emil Hougaard (@im_not_sus1) has gone viral after revealing the hilarious prank he pulled on his friend and bandmate: He set up nine surprise dates for him on Tinder.
Hougaard spoke to Newsweek about how he got the idea for the prank—and the eagerly awaited results. Since the video was posted, it has received 1.4 million views.

"Just told my friend to meet me at the bar. I'm not gonna go, but for the past 10 days, I have [secretly] been using his Tinder to set up dates for him. Currently, he has nine dates at the same time coming to the bar he is at now," he captioned the video. "They are all in on the joke, don't worry."
Hougaard said his friend had been looking for a girlfriend for a while but made it a bit hard for himself, prompting Hougaard to step in.

...
"He continuously refuses to use Tinder," he said. "He believes meeting someone in person feels more 'real' but unfortunately, his dating game hasn't been going well. He occasionally vents to me about it, which gave me the perfect idea for a prank."
Hougaard set up a Tinder account for his friend, complete with photos and a bio that read: "I'm pulling a prank on my friend. If you'd like to participate, swipe right!" The profile got a lot of hits, he said, leading him to his next move.
"I reached out to about 15 of them, explaining the prank and asking if they'd be willing to help by showing up at the same bar on the same night for a date with my friend without him knowing in advance. I even offered to buy them a beer for their trouble and reassured them they could bring a friend if it made them feel more comfortable."
Six girls were willing to participate in the end, with three bringing a friend. That brought the total of surprise dates to nine on the night of the prank.
How Did Things Go?
On the night of the prank, Hougaard planned to meet his friend at a bar, but he had no intention of showing up.
"Instead, I watched from a distance as he walked into the bar, expecting a casual night out with me," he said. "His jaw practically hit the floor when he realized there were nine girls waiting for him, thinking they were all on a date with him.
Hougaard said that his friend was initially shocked but adapted quickly.
"My friend is very outgoing and charming, so after the initial fluster, he managed to strike up conversations with all the girls," he said.
The group hit it off, staying at the bar for four hours from 8 p.m. until midnight.
Did the Wingman Prank Work?
Hougaard was happy to report the outcome of his efforts: One of the women who took a chance and came to the bar that night hit it off with his friend, and the pair have since gone on a second date, with a third one already scheduled.
"Most of the girls came for the fun of the prank, but some were genuinely interested in getting to know him," Hougaard said. "It was a win-win situation: I got to pull off an epic prank, and my friend ended up with a potential girlfriend."
And, as some pointed out in the comments, Hougaard's prank might have created even more connections than intended.
"Bro is unknowingly creating a legendary girl group on accident," one person wrote. "They're gonna end up the best of friends."
