A 42-year-old man from Lake Park, Georgia, is being praised by TikTok users for rescuing a starving puppy found wandering alone in Florida's Osceola National Forest—an act of compassion that he shared to the platform on June 25.

Since then, the clip by @thejkchronicles has been viewed more than 330,000 times and liked by over 62,000 users. In the clip, the rescuer named Scott, originally from New York, can be heard saying: "This dog is starving to death; someone dumped him out here. I like him; I think I'm going to keep him."

Scott, who would prefer to keep his full identity private, told Newsweek the canine was found 20 miles from the nearest road, alone and clearly in distress.

"I found him alone, emaciated, and dehydrated—it was immediately clear he had been abandoned for some time," Scott said. "I was not sure if he would make it, but I could not leave him behind."

Viewers were able to see the 9-month-old puppy, now named Wrangler, walking alone on a remote stretch of wilderness in Osceola National Forest, Florida. Moments later, Scott appeared behind him, speaking into the camera, and later showing Wrangler in his car.

The short clip may have ended with a simple act of compassion, but, for Scott, it marked the start of something far greater. After finding him, Scott swiftly provided Wrangler with food and water before taking him along on his route.

"We began the journey of recovery together," Scott said. "That moment was caught on video, and the response since has been overwhelming in the most-humbling way."

In the days since the post was shared, viewers across TikTok offered words of support and solidarity, with some users calling Scott a "hero" and others thanking him for restoring faith in humanity.

"People are so evil, thank you for saving," one viewer posted.

"Good man," another added. "Now that dog knows what love is."

"He's a saint because saints make miracles happen," a third viewer shared.

Scott said it was the shared stories that meant the most to him following the unexpected viral fame.

"The outpouring of support, love, and encouragement from people around the world has touched me deeply," he said. "The comments; the shared stories from others who have rescued animals; and the emotional reactions have reminded me just how powerful compassion can be."

The experience has inspired Scott to launch a new initiative, Second Chance Supply Co., named after the dog who changed his life.

"It is built on the values of resilience, loyalty, and freedom," he said. "A portion of proceeds will go to helping rescue dogs like Wrangler."

The brand is still in its early stages, but the mission is clear.

"I never expected something so personal to resonate with so many people," Scott said, "but I am incredibly grateful that it has."
