Unsatisfied with the mailman walking away without delivering a treat, a dog took matters into her own paws—and a doorbell camera captured his surprising door-busting reaction, which left the internet in stitches.

Dog owner Lex told Newsweek via TikTok that, as a work-from-home employee, she leaves the front door open so her German shepherd can look out the glass door. Many dogs enjoy gazing out windows to keep an eye on the neighborhood and watch wildlife in their yard. Some even enjoy intimidating the delivery drivers as they protect their homes. But Lex said her mailman has spent the last two years building a relationship with her dog.

"He was afraid of her at first, she said. "Now he gives her a command to sit and gives her a treat."

However, in last week's TikTok video posted to her account, @lexgiahyp, treat time did not come for her dog. The doorbell camera captured the mailman asking her to sit and attempting to give her a treat, except the screen door was locked. He left it by the mailbox for the dog to get it later. That didn't sit right with the dog, who proceeded to slam the door open and demand the treat.

Stunned by the reaction, the mailman turned around and apologized. He said, "Don't be a bully. I thought it was locked," and proceeded to give her the treat.

Lex didn't realize how eager her dog had been for her treat that day until she watched the Ring camera footage.

"I was on a call, so I couldn’t hear what happened, but I looked back at my ring that night and giggled when I saw the full interaction," she said.

Now knowing what happened, Lex wrote the text on video: "...and yes, our sweet mailman will be getting an extra Christmas bonus this year."

Viewer Reactions

Within a week, the TikTok video reached over 526,500 views, 124,200 likes and nearly 600 comments. People couldn't stop cracking up at the dog's determination to get a treat, especially since they were not expecting it.

"That kick really said, 'DUDE IT AINT LOCKED COME ON,'" joked a viewer.

Another person wrote from the dog's perspective: "Absolutely not, turn around and YOU give it to me."

A third user commented: "U gotta watch them Shepards man, they got an attitude on them."
