Khloé Kardashian opened up about the challenges she faced in bonding with her son Tatum, who was born via surrogacy. The difficulty was so pronounced that her doctor even offered to take him home.

Kardashian delved into the challenges she encountered following her son's birth during her appearance on the SHE MD podcast with Dr. Thaïs Alibadi and Mary Alice Haney, which aired on Tuesday, May 7.

"That was tough for me. I wasn't carrying him, I didn't really feel anything," the reality star disclosed. Consequently, she delayed giving Tatum his legal name until eight months after his birth.

She proceeded to recount the time she discovered her then-boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, had been unfaithful and was expecting a child with Maralee Nichols. This revelation came after they had undergone the egg retrieval procedure in their journey to have a second child together.

"And then the first week of December, I found out that my ex was actually having a baby with somebody else," Kardashian continued to share. "And I never told my family I did the transfer. I wasn't going to tell anyone until it took, because I wanted to surprise everyone. So no one knew."

The Good American founder further revealed that she took extraordinary measures to maintain the confidentiality of the situation. She refrained from decorating the baby's nursery to prevent any discoveries by staff or camera crew involved in the filming of her reality show, The Kardashians, as she felt "ashamed."

Kardashian proceeded to confess, "I buried my head in the sand," acknowledging that she felt "really detached." Continuing her moment of vulnerability, she admitted, "I couldn't really face it. I very much think I was in denial." Reflecting on the aftermath of Thompson's infidelity and the news of the baby, she said, "It devastated me because that's when all the judgment and the knives were thrown at me."

She added that Tatum's arrival caught her by surprise, as she had arranged a trip to Disneyland for her first child, True. "The baby wasn't due for another week or two and this was my last weekend with my daughter True," she said, "I just needed the weekend."

This is when co-host Dr. Aliabadi offered to help Kardashian "snap out of it," offering to take the baby home with her. She goes, 'You know what?' I'll deliver the baby. I'll take the baby and you let me know when you're ready to pick him up,' " Kardashian said. "And I was like, 'What?' I'm like, 'Who does this? Who even offers that?' And she did. And I remember I was like to myself, 'Khloé, snap out of it. This is life. We got to do this.'"
