Jon Stewart has shared his thoughts on Elon Musk's claim that he's a "propagandist."

Last week, The Daily Show host, 62, sliced his hand open during the satirical news program after smashing a mug while venting his frustrations with the Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE]. Musk, 53, was appointed by President Donald Trump to oversee the effort and cut government spending.

On March 1, Musk took to X, formerly Twitter—the social media platform he owns—and wrote, "Jon Stewart is much more a propagandist than it would seem."

In a clip posted to The Daily Show's X account on Monday, Stewart reacted to the billionaire's remarks. While reading Musk's X post out loud, the audience booed, as he said, "You give me too little credit."

Newsweek has reached out to Stewart's representative via email for additional comment.

In a separate message posted to X on February 25, Musk said, "Jon is too set in his ways. He used to be more bipartisan."

The comedian hit back at that claim too. During the broadcast, the 23-time Emmy winner said in response: "The guy who custom made his own dark MAGA hat that he wears to opine in the Oval Office with the president who he spent $270 million to elect, thinks I'm just too partisan.

"I'm really not sure what he thinks 'bipartisan' means, but it's generally not, 'I support Donald Trump and also Germany's AfD party.' That's not bipartisan, that's just the same s***."

Musk said he would appear on The Daily Show to chat with Stewart, though under one condition: "I will do it if the show airs unedited," the Tesla CEO wrote on X.

"@elonmusk we'd be delighted!" The Daily Show replied.

While discussing the Tesla CEO's potential appearance on the long-running Comedy Central series, Stewart said, "If you want to come on and talk about it on the show, great. If you don't want to, sure. But can we just drop the pretense that you won't do it because I don't measure up to the standards of neutral discourse that you demand and display at all times?"

Stewart added, though, that the pair do have at least one thing in common. "Look, Elon, I do have some criticisms about DOGE. I support, in general, the idea of efficiency and delivering better services to the American public in cheaper and more efficient ways," he said.

At the time of publication, The Daily Show clip racked up more than 604,000 views and over 15,000 likes.

In the comments, people expressed their interest in the potential interview.

"I really hope this happens," @farzyness—whose X account is followed by Musk—said.

"Give the people what we want!" @BigImpactHumans added, as @ahmeds97_ chimed in, "Let's go!!!"

X user @MrStevenSteele, meanwhile, agreed, "I support this. Let's go Elon, do the interview."

It's uncertain whether Musk will be booked on The Daily Show. For now, his appearance has not been confirmed.
