A former Republican presidential hopeful has said he agrees with "every word" of a recent speech given by Democratic former President Barack Obama.
Joe Walsh, who ran in the 2012 Republican presidential primary, was referring to an address given by Obama at a Kamala Harris campaign event. Walsh wrote on the social platform X: "10yrs ago, I fought against damn near every word Obama said. 10yrs later, I agree with every word he says here."
Obama was speaking at a Harris rally at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania on October 10, where, Newsweek reported, he spent a significant portion of his speech blasting Trump for his leadership and legacy.

The clip of Obama, which Walsh reposted, shows the former president saying: "If Donald Trump doesn't care that a mob might attack his own vice president, do you think he cares about you?"
Walsh added that while he backed Obama's Pittsburgh speech, he "disagreed with Obama on plenty of policy." But he made his thoughts on Trump clear, saying: "Obama is a good man who loves this country. Trump is a bad man incapable of loving this country. Turn the page on Trump."
A spokesperson for the Trump campaign told Newsweek in response to Walsh's comments: "Joe Walsh is a national disgrace and he clearly suffers from Trump derangement syndrome. Walsh is a bad man incapable of loving this country."
In his Pittsburgh speech, Obama also said: "Pennsylvania, we do not need four more years of that. We don't need four more years of arrogance and blundering and bluster and division. America's ready to turn the page. We are ready for a better story. One that helps us work together, instead of turning against each other. Pennsylvania, we're ready for a president Kamala Harris."
Responding to Obama's speech, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign told Newsweek: "Barack Hussein Obama couldn't even make a coherent defense of Kamala Harris' record because even he knows she represents a disastrous four years of skyrocketing inflation, an out-of-control border and rampant crime that terrorizes communities across the country."
Walsh was a one-term Republican representative for Illinois' 8th Congressional District, before to losing out to Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential primary.
After losing his seat to Democrat Tammy Duckworth in t2012, Walsh became a media personality, launching his own radio show, The Joe Walsh Show.

In recent years, Walsh has become a vocal "Never Trump" Republican, and has used his platform to advocate for a Republican Party free of Donald Trump, however he has not switched parties.
Walsh, despite remaining a Republican, has been campaigning for Harris across the country, including in Pennsylvania where Obama gave his remarks.
In another X post, Walsh spoke to a group of Republican voters in New Hampshire about why, as a Republican, he is so anti-Trump, saying: "If you ever want to get a real Republican Party back, the fastest way is to have Donald Trump lose in a landslide."
