Chicago PD fans are overjoyed after Jesse Lee Soffer posted a carousel of photos on the set of Chicago PD, two years after his 2022 departure from the show.

"Pics from set last week. Last one really captures Luce's essence," Stoffer wrote on Thursday, April 11, alongside photos on the set of the popular series. He shared behind-the-scenes photos — leaving fans wondering if he'll be on as his character Jay Halstead, or just as a director.

Fans were basically begging for Soffer's return to their screens. "We need Jay Halstead to come back!! 😭🙏🏻🙏🏻," one user wrote. Another said, "So are you just gonna be behind the scenes or will you return at some point? You know we miss you 😔."

The actor isn't a stranger to directing. He directed Chicago PD's season 10 episode 16 titled "Deadlocked."

Another user on his post mentioned his debut directing episode, while still mentioning his optimism to see him on the screen as well. "Looking forward to your directing again, you killed it last time! I was so excited to see the BTS of you and Tracy again, and still holding hope maybe there will be something with you both onscreen too."

Soffer portrayed Jay Halstead for a decade on Chicago PD, bidding farewell to the character midway through season 10 after appearing in 189 episodes. He graced screens in every hour of seasons 1 through 9 and the initial three of season 10.

"I've thought so hard about how to answer this question — and there's no good answer," he told Variety. "Except I was ready for more."
