Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from her husband, Ben Affleck, after a little over two years of marriage, according to court records.
Rumors have swirled for several weeks that Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, were planning to split. The couple previously dated for a few years in the early 2000s but called off their first engagement in 2004.
Court documents reviewed by Newsweek show that Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, August 20--the two-year anniversary of her and Affleck's second wedding ceremony in Georgia in the summer of 2022. The couple first tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.

Rumors circulated months that the couple, once dubbed "Bennifer," were planning to split. Reports first surfaced this spring that the two were living separately. In May, Lopez canceled her summer tour, This Is Me...Live, and said at the time it was to "be with her children, family and close friends."
"Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary," Lopez said in a statement. "I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time..."
The couple listed their 12 bedroom, 38,000-square-foot estate in Beverley Hills, California, for sale in July. According to a report from CNN, the home was put on the market for $68 million. Lopez and Affleck purchased the estate in 2023 for just over $60.8 million.

The two appeared to keep a good relationship throughout the breakup rumors. Lopez was seen attending the high school graduation of Affleck's oldest child, 18-year-old Violet, on May 30, according to photos obtained by People magazine. A few days earlier, the celebrity pair were seen supporting Affleck's middle child, Fin, at a school play on May 17.
Lopez was also seen visiting Affleck's rental home in Brentwood, California, to celebrate his birthday on August 15, according to Page Six.
Affleck shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Fin and 12-year-old Samuel. Lopez also has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Vanessa Lloyd Platt, proprietor of the London-based matrimonial legal firm Lloyd Platt & Co., previously told Newsweek that Lopez's assets could be "at risk" if her relationship with Affleck ended in divorce.
"The relationship between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has always been somewhat volatile," Platt said this month, noting that the couple had reportedly drawn up a prenup when they were first together in the early 2000s but that the contract would likely not apply today.
"This has meant that Jennifer Lopez's fortune which is estimated to be in the region of $400 million compared with Ben Affleck's at $150 million may potentially be at risk," Platt added.
