Why It Matters

Swift revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be dropping this fall during an appearance on New Heights, a podcast her fiancé, Travis Kelce, co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. Weeks later, she shared that she and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end are getting married.

The pop star—whose net worth is approximately $1.6 billion, per Forbes—less than a year ago wrapped up her wildly popular Eras Tour, which ran for 21 months and broke 18 records.

What To Know

On Wednesday, iTunes took to X to announce a digital-only version of The Life of a Showgirl, which will include a new cover and behind-the-scenes video.

"The Life of a showgirl era takes center stage," iTunes wrote on Wednesday. "Pre-order @taylorswift13's new album on iTunes now and get exclusive content once it drops on October 3rd."

At the time of publication, the post had racked up more than 5.7 million views, 46,000 likes and 400 comments.

The last time the account was active was July 10, 2019. At the time, iTunes reposted a note from Apple TV about The Lion King's live-action remake, which hit theaters on July 19 that year.

According to Apple's website, "when iTunes was originally released, it had everything you needed to be entertained." Now, however, "there are individual apps for all your media" including Apple Music and Apple TV. It says iTunes, specifically, "remains the home for your audiobooks and free podcasts."

During Swift's New Heights episode, she said the Eras Tour inspired The Life of a Showgirl.

"This album was about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant," the 14-time Grammy Award winner told listeners. "It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, so that effervescence has come through on this record."

In the comments underneath iTunes' post, fans of Swift—affectionately known as Swifties—shared their excitement for the collaboration.
