Roger Williams University offers a top-notch engineering program that equips students with the skills needed to become changemakers in the industry. With world-class facilities and a curriculum focused on experiential learning, RWU stands at the forefront of the future of engineering. The unique curriculum of the RWU engineering program provides both a broad education in diverse areas of engineering and a deep dive into an engineering specialization area, enabling students to work with engineers from all backgrounds and fields. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET [http://www.abet.org], meeting all general criteria.

Innovate in state-of-the-art laboratories

The newest building on the Bristol campus is the Richard L. Bready Applied Learning Laboratories. This facility is designed to foster collaboration and innovation while offering high-tech resources for experiential learning. The three-floor, 27,325-square-foot building features five cutting-edge engineering laboratories and design spaces, project rooms, and open spaces dedicated to hands-on education.

Specialize Engineering Expertise

At RWU, the B.S. Engineering program offers several specializations to cater to your interests and career goals. Choose from civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, and mechanical engineering. If you have a unique career path in mind, you can create your powerful combination with our Custom Specialization option. This empowers you to design a personalized specialization in consultation with an academic advisor, ensuring you're prepared for emerging fields that may not fit neatly into traditional specializations.

The RWU Engineering Difference

At RWU, hands-on work is considered a crucial aspect of the learning experience. The Senior Design Project, which takes place during the final year of study, is an essential component of this philosophy. The project requires students to apply their knowledge of math, science, computer science, and engineering principles to develop a comprehensive engineering design solution for a real-world problem. Faculty advisors assist student teams, and completed projects are presented to faculty, staff, alumni, and industry leaders for feedback. This project provides students with valuable cross-disciplinary experience and prepares them for future careers. Past Senior Design Projects have included:

● Pizza Delivery Robot

● Arthroscopic surgery suturing device

● Wearable blood oxygen meter

Top Engineering Employment

Our graduates find continued success with 96% of 2023 graduates employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Of those employed, 100% landed their first job in their targeted industry with an average starting salary of $72,245. Our graduates are working at top firms including BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and more. RWU Engineering alumni are working as Environmental Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Electronics Engineers, Applications Engineers, and Site Engineers. The opportunities are endless.

The Benefit of Learning Engineering in Rhode Island

Located on Mt. Hope Bay, RWU focuses uniquely on human-environment interactions. Studying engineering principles at our coastal campus means that you will have access to interdisciplinary teaching and cutting-edge research, which will enhance your educational experience. Additionally, RWU is the host institution for the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program (NBEP), an organization dedicated to protecting and improving coastal ecosystems in New England. Our goal is to increase faculty and student engagement in cross-disciplinary research, promote environmental literacy among RWU students, and work towards solving ecological problems facing coastal communities.
