Internet users are obsessed with a golden retriever refusing to leave his grandparents’ house, leaving his owners no choice but to lure him out with cheese.
Visiting their grandparents is a real privilege for many dogs but getting them to leave can prove quite the challenge. This is something that dog owner Paige Alexander (@paigerochellee) of Dallas, Texas, knows all too well, as her golden retriever certainly isn’t a fan of leaving his grandparents’ home in Prairieville, Louisiana.
In fact, Alexander shared a hilarious clip on TikTok showing the lengths they had to go to just to make him leave. The clip shows the family members enticing the dog (who was lying on the floor) with cheese until he stood up, and then gradually feeding the golden retriever small morsels until he was finally outside. He eventually started moving toward the exit as he followed the food—although he didn’t look too pleased about it.

The video has gone viral on TikTok since it was posted, as social media users can’t get enough of the golden retriever’s stubbornness. The hilarious clip has generated over 533,800 views and more than 56,600 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
Newsweek has contacted @paigerochellee via TikTok for comment. We could not verify the details of the video.
The caption layered over the clip jokes that the golden had to be "lured into the car to go home" because there was no easy way of getting him to leave. It may be no surprise that the dog didn’t want to leave as he was spoiled with "endless treats, pets, and big backyard, and a pool" while he stayed there. His owner even joked that it is like going to his very own "all inclusive" resort.
Sadly, the golden retriever doesn’t get to stay with his grandparents as regularly as his owner would like. If they lived closer, the owner said in a TikTok comment that she would "be there every weekend."
While his owners may not have been too happy about it at the time, TikTok users have lauded the dog’s stubborn temperament. Many people took to the comments to laud his lack of cooperation, leading to more than 310 comments on the video so far.
One comment reads: "He knows it’s a trick. He resisted as long as he could."
Another TikTok user wrote: "he knows it's a trap, but he couldn't say no to his favorite treat."
A third person replied: "He doesn’t want to leave his all-inclusive, I don’t blame him."
One commenter joked: "secretly he'd love to go home, but he's pretending for free treats."
