Northwestern’s losing streak reached three games last week when No. 18 Michigan kicked a field goal as time expired to escape Wrigley Field with a 24-22 win. The Wildcats scored two touchdowns in 55 seconds early in the fourth quarter to take a 22-21 lead before the late swing. Preston Stone threw for 184 yards and scored a rushing touchdown, while Caleb Komolafe scored the go-ahead TD after a Braden Turner interception. Robert Fitzgerald also had a pick as Northwestern forced five turnovers. The Wildcats fell to 3-4 in the Big Ten with the loss.

Minnesota’s campaign continued last week with a 42-13 thumping at then-No. 8 Oregon, dropping to 0-4 on the road while the Golden Gophers are 6-0 at home. Drake Lindsey threw for 138 yards and a touchdown to Javon Tracy, but Minnesota was held to 200 yards of offense while surrendering 510 to the Ducks. Darius Taylor finished with 57 yards on 10 carries and also caught four passes for 40 yards as the Gophers fell to 4-3 in Big Ten action.

Northwestern won the last time the teams met, taking a 37-34 overtime victory at the now-demolished Ryan Field in Evanston on Sept. 23, 2023, while Minnesota leads the all-time series 56-37-5.
