Boston rallied from a 22-point deficit on Friday night, with Derrick White’s corner 3-pointer with 1:31 remaining lifting the Celtics to a 98-96 win over the visiting Miami Heat. Jaylen Brown scored 29 points in the victory while Payton Pritchard added 24. White finished with 21 points and four blocked shots, and Nikola Vučević came off the bench for 11 points and 12 rebounds in his Boston debut after he was acquired from the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. Neemias Queta grabbed 11 boards as well.
The Knicks’ winning streak crashed to a halt on Friday night in a 118-80 beatdown at the Detroit Pistons. Mikal Bridges scored 19 points for New York while Jalen Brunson was held to 12 on 4-of-20 shooting. Karl Anthony-Towns (eye laceration) and OG Anunoby (toe soreness) did not play in the loss, and recently acquired Jose Alvarado had yet to be activated.
The teams split homecourt wins in their first two matchups this season. Brown averages 29.5 points for the Celtics, while White puts up 17.4 points and 5.5 assists per game, and Queta pulls down 8.4 rebounds a night. Brunson posts averages of 27.1 points and 6.1 assists for New York, while Towns, listed as day-to-day, gets 19.9 points and an NBA-best 11.9 boards per game.
This is a great NBA matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
