What Is Stop Six Park

Historic Stop Six Park (formerly known as Rosedale Plaza Park) is a 6.25-acre community park located at 5200 East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth, a city that is home to roughly 1 million people. According to the North Texas Community Foundation, the park is heavily tied to the cultural identity of Stop Six, one of Fort Worth’s most prominent, historically Black neighborhoods.

The neighborhood's name dates back to the early 20th century when an electric-powered streetcar system run by the Northern Texas Traction Co. operated a 90-minute commute between Fort Worth and Dallas, according to TCU Magazine. The settlement was the sixth stop on the line out of the Tarrant County Courthouse. Since it lacked a formal landmark at the time, people simply called it "Stop Six."

Because the park is a gathering place for multi-generational families, it's frequently used for weekend barbecues, youth sports, and local community events.
