Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington opened up about a cast secret on a recent podcast.
During Monday's episode of Call It What It Is, which Luddington co-hosts with Grey's alum Jessica Capshaw, the actress recalled a special moment on set while interviewing Harry Shum Jr.
Shum has played Dr. Benson Kwan on Grey's since 2022, and that same year, his film Everything Everywhere All at Once was released. The actor starred as Chad in the movie, and it went on to win seven Oscars—including Best Picture.

"We were on the set of Grey's Anatomy—people don't know this—but we decorated our little holding room all Oscars-style for Harry, and it was really cute," Luddington shared with listeners. "Everyone was so excited, and we felt like you were ours at that point because we had stolen you and you're on Grey's Anatomy. And so we kind of felt part of it in our own way too, and we were just so excited for you guys."
Shum said the gesture was "so sweet" and praised his fellow colleagues.
"There's this care being done with each other, people's needs beyond like creative, just servicing each other in a way that I think the industry should take note on," the Glee star said. "So when I saw that, when you guys decorated that, that was just such a beautiful thing. It really warmed my heart."
Newsweek reached out to Shum's representative via email for additional comment.

Shum added that the Grey's Anatomy set is "one of the loveliest sets I've ever been on," and said he "didn't realize how incredibly impactful" the show is "beyond just people enjoying television or the characters that they can fall in love with."
"I'm learning, just like I was learning these songs on Glee, I'm learning a lot of medical breakthroughs that are happening or that have happened and just being able to be put on a platform like this," he said.
During the podcast, Shum recalled the "most nerve-racking" experience he had on the show—a particularly tricky monologue that was written for him with "at least 20 medical terms."
"You can't get it wrong!" Shum said.
"Harry, we've been there," Luddington and Capshaw agreed, with Luddington adding that "it doesn't matter how long you've been on that show, it's still so scary."
Luddington joined the cast of Grey's as Dr. Josephine "Jo" Wilson in 2012 and is still on the series today. Capshaw, meanwhile, starred on Grey's from 2008 to 2018 as pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins. The hit ABC drama has been on air since 2005 and is currently in its 21st season.
While speaking with Luddington and Capshaw, Shum said he's grateful to have been cast on Grey's: "This legacy was something that I wanted to really be a part of."
New episodes of Grey's Anatomy begin on Thursday, March 6 on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.
