A viral TikTok has shone a light on the importance of making foster pets feel safe and loved within their new homes.

Laurel and Rob, who are behind the TikTok account @mythologicaldogs, are no strangers to fostering dogs. They work with a local rescue to house fosters until forever families come forward to adopt. About two weeks ago, they brought home a new foster dog, Eve.

"She was left on a golf course with her brother and then taken in as a stray," the couple told Newsweek. "She was on the euthanasia list due to lack of space at the local shelter."

Despite her rough beginning, Eve learned to love and trust humans again after being with Laurel and Rob. She felt safe in their home and last week's video posted to the couple's TikTok account showed she is not shy about sharing that love.

In the clip, Eve can be seen standing at the door preparing for Rob to return home. She started wiggling her body as soon as he walked inside. Eve wouldn't let him do anything other than give her a million pets and kisses.

Foster dog greets man

...

Her reaction to Rob returning home shows the impact foster parents have on these animals. Eve has learned to trust humans again and her time with the couple has prepared her for a forever home.

While many viewers thought Eve fit perfectly with this family, the couple said an interested adopter reached out after seeing the dog on social media. She traveled over nine hours for a meet and greet with Eve.

A follow-up video showed Eve and this potential adopter meeting for the first time. The woman will have a one-to-two-week trial period to ensure they fit together. But the couple is hopeful after noticing the woman has already begun spoiling Eve.

The first text they received was the woman asking what size pajamas Eve wears. She even brought a toy to meet Eve. Plus, Eve looked comfortable with the woman as she happily accepted hugs and her tail wagged rapidly.

Viewer Reactions

The TikTok video quickly brought viewers to tears, amassing over 66,000 views and 8,326 likes as of writing.

"Those wiggles. She'll always remember this stepping stone to her forever home," commented one viewer.

Another added: "You foster so you can help a 1000 animals instead of one. The angels are with you!"

A third user said: "Every dog deserves this kind of love!! Her forever family is going to be so lucky they get to love her."
