WWE superstar Seth Rollins has been cut from Captain America: Brave New World.

The five-time WWE world champion was originally set to appear in Marvel's fourth Captain America film, with fans eagerly anticipating his appearance. However, he revealed during a recent interview his part didn't make the final edit.

"It releases in February, I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film," Rollins tells Chris Van Vliet, embedded below. "Does my NDA still apply if I'm not in the film anymore? You know what, truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots, and what I was there to do, essentially my role, either got repurposed or completely erased."

Captain America: Brave New World

...

Captain America: Brave New World has had a protracted development, with its release date originally slated for July, 2024. Following reportedly underwhelming test screenings and some rather concerning feedback, reshoots took place to beef up underwhelming action sequences. It looks like Rollins' exclusion was an unfortunate byproduct.

While he never hasn't publicly commented on the extent of his participation, leaked images captured on-set appear to show the star in full costume. Two years ago, a Reddit user posted an apparently behind-the-scenes shot of Rollins preparing to shoot a scene in Captain America: Brave New World.

With what looks like a custom-made outfit, Rollins doesn't seem like a mere extra, but a fully fledged character. Some fans even have their own theories on Rollins' character's comic book origins, with a few pointing out his flared trench coat resembles nefarious individuals from villainous organisation the Serpent Society.

Is Seth Rollins in Captain America: Brave New World?

While you won't see Rollins in the fourth Captain America film, he's not ruling out popping up farther down the line. "I did do a bit of an audition to pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I'm not exactly sure on what it was. But they ended up going in a different direction with it. My understanding is there were a lot of rewrites, and a lot of reshoots, and they got a finished product they're happy with."

He wouldn't be the first star to cross over. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, former UFC champion Georges St Pierre played a combat master mercenary who gives Chris Evans a run for his money in a vicious fight on board a ship. The most famous example is WWE future Hall of Famer Bautista co-starring in three Guardians of the Galaxy movies as Drax the Destroyer.
