The biggest new release on Hulu this month is an ambitious Wild West documentary by Kevin Costner.

Titled “Kevin Costner’s The West,” the eight-part series made in association with The History Channel, it offers a fresh look at the formation of the American West. From the explorers of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, to the Oregon Trail, it seeks to provide a new perspective on the founding of the nation.

There's also historical drama brewing across the pond with “A Thousand Blows Season 2.” Releasing January 9th, it stars Stephen Graham as a boxer navigating the seedy underbelly of London's notorious East End.

Later comes the massively anticipated "Fear Factor" reboot, “Fear Factor: House of Fear.” It sees Johnny Knoxville host a revitalized, reality-driven spin on the adrenaline-pumping game show.

Finally, expect fireworks with the premiere of “American Idol Season 9” on January 27th.
