When wildfires engulfed parts of Cape Town earlier this week, showrunners had no choice but to postpone the popular dating show.

“Due to ongoing wildfires in Franschhoek, South Africa, where Love Island: All Stars is filmed, production has been effectively halted, pushing the original January 14 premiere date to a later day,” wrote Peacock in a statement.

The series was all set to air on Peacock on Wednesday, 14th January, but was being held until the situation stabilised.

It could have turned ugly. Both host Maya Jama and the full cast had to reportedly flee the set in Franschhoek, South Africa, located just 12km away from the raging wildfires.

Word broke on January 10th, when the official “Love Island” Instagram account posted the following update for fans:

"Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed," the post read. "Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed."

A source told The Sun: “A fire broke out close to the villa and it was deemed to dangerous to have Maya, the cast and all of the production crew working there in case it suddenly moved closer to the villa.”

It's not the only must-watch dating show. Check out the "Married at First Sight" Season 19 release date.
