It is officially Christmas Eve for people who care way too much about gold-plated statues! Thursday, January 22nd, the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be announced, which means it’s time for the annual tradition of public accountability (and eventual embarrassment): predicting who will be nominated.

Frankly, I’m rooting for chaos. Give me the snubs! Give me the "who is that?" surprises! If I’m 100 percent correct, the Academy has failed us all. To process the inevitable drama, join me on Friday’s episode of the Parting Shot Podcast, where I’ll be joined by my lovely (and overly caffeinated) colleagues Lauren Giella and Kyle McGovern to break down every single category. And subscribe to the For the Culture newsletter to keep up with every twist and turn this awards season.

Without further ado, here is who I think is getting the "It's an honor just to be nominated" phone call Thursday morning:

Best Picture
Bugonia
Frankenstein
Hamnet
It Was Just an Accident
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sentimental Value
Sinners
The Secret Agent
Train Dreams

HOT TAKE: There's a chance films like F1 or the Korean film No Other Choice sneak in there. That said, there's zero chance Wicked: For Good will sneak in there.

Best Director
Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another)
Ryan Coogler (Sinners)
Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein)
Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value)
Chloé Zhao (Hamnet)

HOT TAKE: Jafar Panahi for It Was Just and Accident or Josh Safdie for Marty Supreme could easily take the place of Trief or del Toro in this list. But I doubt it.

Best Actor
Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon)
Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another)
Michael B. Jordan (Sinners)
Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme)
Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent)

HOT TAKE: If there are any surprises here, it will be Jesse Plemons name called for Bugonia.

Best Actress
Chase Infinti (One Battle After Another)
Emma Stone (Bugonia)
Jessie Buckley (Hamnet)
Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value)
Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You)

HOT TAKE: Kate Hudson could seriously get a nomination for Song Sung Blue. You heard me right. Kate Hudson! I wouldn't be mad about it, but it would be shocking.

Best Supporting Actor
Benicio del Toro (One Battle After Another)
Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein)
Paul Mescal (Hamnet)
Sean Penn (One Battle After Another)
Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value)

HOT TAKE: Not expecting many surprises from this category. If anybody else does sneak in there, it's going to be Adam Sandler for Jay Kelly.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Madigan (Weapons)
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value)
Odessa A'zion (Marty Supreme)
Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another)
Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners)

HOT TAKE: The big shocker people will be looking out for is whether Ariana Grande's name will be mentioned. Her performance is the only one with a chance from Wicked: For Good (sorry Cynthia Erivo). And even though I don't think it will happen, I'm hoping that we'll get a Glenn Close shocker and she'll pick up a nomination for Wake Up Dead Man.

Where am I gonna be wrong? Let me know! And subscribe to the Parting Shot Podcast and the For the Culture newsletter.
