Following the releases of "Deadpool and Wolverine," "Agatha All Along," and "What If...? Season 3," the MCU is finally releasing its first Phase 6 movie. "Captain America: Brave New World" not only kicks off the 2025 slate for Marvel movies but is the first feature in the latest phase of the grand MCU plan.

The film brings back Anthony Mackie as Captain America, as he was formally promoted from being Falcon to the beloved U.S. superhero. Harrison Ford has taken over as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross following the untimely passing of William Hurt, and the cast is rounded out by stars like Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Tim Blake Nelson returning as Samuel Sterns, and more.

The new MCU entry is set to release officially on Feb. 14, but the first reactions for the film are now out. Those reactions reveal a very telling story.
From the first few reactions, it appears that "Captain America: Brave New World" might follow the trajectory the MCU has seen in the last couple of years. It could end up being a very divisive film for many people.
While some early reviewers are having a lot of fun with the Phase 6 movie, others are saying that it could be another failure in the long list of Marvel movies.

Some reviews are also starting to pour out, with IGN giving the new Marvel movie a paltry 5/10 score and a simple caption that says, "Captain America: Brave New World falls short of its strong performances from Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly."
IGN also appears to indicate that the new film not only borrows from its predecessor ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier") but that it outright grabs and recycles plot points from that entry.
Marvel has had some up-and-down properties released over the course of the last two years, but this new chapter might just be the first stepping stone to the already planned bigger conflicts.
Marvel is set to bring back fan-favorite actors for the upcoming Avengers films like Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, and a rumor that Chris Evans will return as a proposed alternate version of Captain America.
Either way, Marvel can often take some time to set up their next big baddie, or simply to cultivate early entries into bigger appearances down the road. For now, at least everyone finally gets to see the MCU debut of Red Hulk.
