It is well known that DCU head honcho James Gunn is planning on bringing in a new actor to take on the role of Batman. While there is also Robert Pattinson, his version of the character under the leadership of Matt Reeves belongs to the DC Elseworlds universe.

This universe is completely different than the DCU, so don't expect Pattinson's Bruce Way to run into David Corenswet's Superman. That said, Gunn has a lot of work to do to bring in the next Caped Crusader.

There have been plenty of rumors about which actors have been tied to the role of Batman, specifically for the upcoming "Brave and the Bold" film that follows an older Bruce Wayne.

One actor that fans have been asking for is Alan Ritchson, who has made waves in the "Reacher" series, which is showcased on Amazon Prime. Ritchson has the look and feel for Bruce Wayne, but the man himself has dropped a brutal update on his involvement.

When Ritchson was asked in an interview with Variety about Gunn being a fan of his, and potentially being Batman, he dropped the bad news that it is unlikely he will take on the cape and cowl.

"Well, it's no rumor that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. I don't want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don't think that Batman is in my future. I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true," Ritchson stated.

The bad news is that Ritchson has all but ruled himself out of the running to be the DCU Batman. However, he does have hope that he will be given some sort of role within the DCU.

To be fair, Ritchson could be pulling the proverbial wool over the eyes of DC fans everywhere. Much like Marvel, DC is unlikely to want to reveal casting secrets this early on. Gunn could be biding his time and Ritchson may become Batman when all is said and done.

Ritchson would play a wonderful Bruce Wayne, but time will tell if that comes to fruition. For now, fans will just have to keep speculating on who gets the role of a lifetime.
