"Scream" veteran Matthew Lillard is on his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A new report says Lillard has been cast in Season 2 of "Daredevil: Born Again". Marvel is apparently confident about their new series because Season 2 will begin filming next week, just as the first season is premiering.

Coyote

It's a bit of a long shot, but Lillard's lanky build is reminiscent of the creepy villain Coyote. Using the same technique that gave portal powers to The Spot of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse", Coyote is a smuggler and a thief. Not only does he use his powers to transport stolen goods, but he can bloodlessly separate a person's body parts.

In a disturbing example in the comics, Coyote separates Daredevil's head from his body while keeping both alive.

Lillard would be great in the role, but it is a long shot simply because of the nature of his powers. While Daredevil of the MCU has dealt with characters with superpowers, having him face a foe who can decapitate him while keeping him alive seems a little too "super" for most Daredevil media.

The Jester

Remembering Lillard's performance back in 1996's "Scream", it's tough to not think of the Jester as a possible role for the actor. The Jester is essentially the "Daredevil" comics' closest answer to the Joker but with even more gimmicky and goofy gizmos at his disposal.

This may be a longshot too simply because the Jester is no one's first choice for a villain needing to join the MCU. Unless he's meant to be a gag villain, which is always a possibility.

Mister Fear

Mister Fear - one of the four men who have assumed the role in the comics - is a good candidate purely by process of elimination. We've met most of Daredevil's biggest villains already. Kingpin, Bullseye, Elektra, and The Hand have all appeared in the "Daredevil" Netflix series. Typhoid Mary showed up in "Iron Fist" and Nuke lived and died in "Jessica Jones".

Like The Scarecrow of "Batman Begins", Mister Fear has a chemical compound at his command that can fill his victims with terror.

Regardless of who Lillard plays in Season 2, the first season of "Daredevil: Born Again" premieres Tuesday, March 4 on Disney+. The streaming service will give subscribers the first two episodes and Season 1 will deliver nine episodes in total.
