Jeopardy! UK host Stephen Fry, 76, has been married to husband Elliot Spencer, 36, for 10 years — but the couple are so rarely spotted together their last public outing was in 2019. Now, Fry is revealing why.
While discussing his new Jeopardy! role — a position that he called a "terrible ... lovely mistake" — Fry revealed on The Jonathan Ross Show that he and Spencer aren't fixtures in the Hollywood scene and instead prefer to have a quieter nightlife.
"I was on The Morning Show. I had dinner with my American agent, he said, 'What do you do when you're not called on set?' and I said, 'My husband and I, we don't go to Hollywood parties much, we have an early supper, watch Jeopardy! go to bed...," the iconic comedian shared, per the Daily Mail.

In fact, it was that nightly routine between Fry and his husband that led to his new hosting gig.
When his agent asked Fry if he watched a U.K. version of Jeopardy!, he responded: "'We don't have it in the UK." Two weeks later, Fry got a phone call from said agent.
"He phones and says: 'ITV London is thrilled you're going to do Jeopardy!'" he recalled.
Fry — who was knighted by King Charles earlier this year — began his tenure as Jeopardy! UK host in 2024.
As for his relationship with Spencer, the couple wed in 2015, three years after meeting.

"We met at a friend's house and I knew pretty much straight away that this was someone I wanted to spend ... the rest of my life with," he told Jonathan Ross at the time.
Though one of the last times the pair were spotted together in public was at Princess Eugenie's October 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank, Fry shared a rare public tribute to Spencer via Instagram on their 10-year anniversary in January.
Alongside a black and white photo of him and Spencer, Fry wrote: "Ten happy years to the day since we were joined in marriage. I'm a lucky man."
