James Wilkie Broderick is taking after his famous parents — Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick — and his dad will be at his side in his first leading role.

James Wilkie, who is 22 and a senior at Brown University, will guest star alongside his father Broderick, 62, in an episode of the CBS police comedy Elsbeth. This will be his first major role for James Wilkie, who made a small appearance in the Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake. It will also be his first appearance on network television.

According to Deadline, the elder Broderick will play Lawrence Grey, a college admissions consultant whose "expertise and connections make him rich and powerful, but when someone threatens his perch, he is driven to murder." James Wilkie will play Carl, who is "a top 'success trainer' at Lawrence Grey's company, Outmatch Educational Consulting, who is helping the offspring of Manhattan's super-rich make it into the Ivy League."

James Wilkie is the oldest child of Broderick and Parker, who have been married since 1997. The two actors are also parents to twins, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick, 13, who were born via a surrogate.

Parker has spoken about her desire to keep her children from being raised as "children of privilege," and even told Parade in 2008 that James Wilkie wore mostly hand-me-downs. "He only wears hand-me-downs because I've got all these older nephews," she explained. "I don't think I've ever bought him any clothes. Maybe a new winter coat. I do buy him shoes, because everybody's feet are different."

In addition to appearing in Elsbeth and Lady in the Lake, James Wilkie is studying classics and acting at Brown and is active in the New York City theater scene. The Broderick kids have mostly remained out of the spotlight, but James Wilkie and the twins have occasionally joined their parents at red carpet events.
