Renée Zellweger had fans doing a double take after undergoing a major transformation for her cover photo shoot with British Vogue.

The 55-year-old Bridget Jones star — who is currently promoting Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the third installment in the rom-com franchise — rocked a pixie cut for the shoot ... a far cry from the long, straight locks she's known for.

On the cover, she wore her shorn blonde locks in a wet, slicked-back look, while she opted for a shaggier style within the pages of the magazine. Another photo — all of which were shared by British Vogue's Instagram account on Wednesday, January 15 — featured the Oscar winner's bangs falling in a curtain style, reminiscent of one of the reigning hairstyles of the '90s.

Fans were left stunned at Zellweger's British Vogue look, with many commenting how different she looks and some accusing the magazine of airbrushing her or making her look "AI."

"Doesn't look like her at all," one person wrote.

"The irony of this nearly unrecognisable shot against the quote about authenticity is hilarious and confounding," another remarked, referring to Zellweger telling the publication, "Bridget is authentically herself. Whatever her imperfections, she remains joyful and optimistic."

Others compared the Chicago star's new hairstyle to fellow celebs known for their short blonde hair: namely Sharon Stone, David Bowie, and Brad Pitt.

Still, some praised Zellweger's short cut.

"Love the short hair! Rene IS BRIDGET JONES and there could never be another!" one person commented.

In the pages of Vogue, Zellweger — who was interviewed by her Bridget Jones co-star Hugh Grant — spoke about the joy of slipping back into character as the beloved rom-com icon. In addition to her on-screen love life, the Chicago star also got real about romance in her own life: specifically, about her relationship with Ant Anstead, whom she began dating in 2021.

"I live in Southern California, near San Diego," Zellweger told Grant in the article. "Because that's where my fellow lives, and his little boy." (Anstead shares 5-year-old son Hudson with ex-Christina Haack.)
