Jon Voight reportedly made a rare statement expressing his pride for his estranged daughter, Angelina Jolie, and his granddaughter, Vivienne, following their Tony Award win for best musical last weekend.

The duo co-produced The Outsiders, and Voight, 85, shared his admiration for them with TMZ on Monday, June 24. "It's amazing," he said to the outlet, referring to their huge achievement. "[I'm] very proud of Vivienne and very proud of Angie because she really tries to encourage each of the kids to be what they want to be," he elaborated.

Voight explained to the publication that Vivienne, 15, played a significant role in bringing the musical to her mother's attention. "Vivienne read the book and then went down to see this pre-Broadway version close to San Diego," he said. "She went down four times and said, 'Mom, you've got to see this.' Angie was very interested. It showed something of Vivienne she'd never seen before." Voight added that the director recognized the teen's talent and keen eye for the arts.

On Sunday, June 16, Jolie, 41, and Vivienne graced the red carpet at the 2024 Tony Awards in coordinating sea foam green outfits. The actress also displayed a bold new body modification at the event – a dainty dove tattoo in the center of her chest.

Voight and Jolie have had their own share of issues over the years, mainly stemming from her childhood when The Fixer actor cheated on her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, during their marriage. The tension between them continued when Voight was unaware of Jolie's wedding to Brad Pitt in 2014. Last November, Voight openly criticized his daughter for her social media posts defending Palestinians instead of Israelis.

Voight was recently spotted filming an episode of Pawn Stars at Barry's Downtown Prime with Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison, and Chumlee. During the shoot, they discussed his role in the upcoming biopic Reagan, where Dennis Quaid stars as Ronald Reagan and Voight plays KGB agent Viktor Petrovich.
