Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, 46, has been vocal about her caregiver journey as she helps her husband through his life after he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

The mother of two took to Instagram to share a story about a phone call that she recently received and talked a bit about the lack of resources offered by doctors to help caregivers.

"I received a call from a very prominent doctor the other day, letting me know that he has a family who's just been diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer's, and they have three children aged 10, 12, and 14, and that he needs all of my resources, any contacts. And I was like, 'Huh?'" Heming-Willis said in a video posted to her Instagram feed on Thursday, March 13.

"And I have the contacts, and nothing makes me happier than to be able to be of service and to support the next caregiver, which I happily passed on," she continued. Though Heming Willis was more than happy to assist, she couldn't help but speak out about how medical professionals aren't already prepared with an arsenal of helpful information for patients and their families.

"The thing that just boggles my mind is how do our doctors not already have a Rolodex of ways to support caregivers?" she wondered.

"The other thing that just is so upsetting to me is, when I receive messages from families that have just been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia or some type of dementia, and they're asking me for my resources. I'm not even in the same state as them, same city. It's very hard to sort of pass on those resources, except to like the Association for Frontotemporal Dementia or things like that. But it's just like, they need to do better. Doctors need to do better. Doctors really do need to have a road map of just some support," she continued.

Heming Willis' Instagram video comes just days after she posted another video about the importance of caregivers getting the care that they need because of the stress that is put on them.

Heming Willis, who married Willis, 69, in 2009, has been her husband's primary caregiver over the past couple of years. The Die Hard actor has lost the ability to speak. In an interview with Town & Country in October 2024, Heming Willis revealed that she's writing a book to help caregivers, not only with the care they give, but also with a focus on caring for themselves.
