Selena Gomez revealed that before meeting her now-boyfriend Benny Blanco, she was planning to adopt a child.
The Only Murders in the Building actress got vulnerable in a recent interview with TIME, which was published on Thursday, May 30, revealing that if she hadn't met Blanco, she envisioned adopting a baby within the next few years.
"I was alone for five years and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it," Gomez, 31, said.

"Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone," the Rare Beauty founder continued, noting that she had a friendship with Blanco that turned into a romantic relationship. "It just happens when you least expect it."
Blanco has been very forthcoming about his relationship with Gomez in recent interviews, even expressing his desire to marry her and start a family together.
When she was asked the same, the actress wasn't as open to answering. "I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life," the "Single Soon" singer shared. "But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him."
She continued: "It's really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that he's not going anywhere any time soon."
Gomez and the record producer have been linked since June 2023, but they officially confirmed their relationship on social media in December 2023. Since then, Gomez has frequently shared memories and details about their relationship online.
In March, she posted a heartfelt message along with a carousel of intimate photos of the two of them.
"Happy birthday baby! Your emotional endurance, positive disposition, unbelievable talent (that blows me away), undeniable humor and loving, kind heart absolutely kill me. I love you @itsbennyblanco 🎂🥹," she wrote via Instagram.
