President Donald Trump’s second wife, Marla Maples, attended the White House’s Christmas party on Sunday night for the first time.
Maples posted a video from outside the White House to her Instagram story, saying that it was the first time she had ever attended the party. She called it beautiful and posted a photo with her daughter, Tiffany Trump, and Sarah Shatz, captioning the photo, “love these ladies.”
While it’s the first time that Maples has been to a White House event, it’s not as if she’s disappeared from the president’s orbit. Maples was at Mar-a-Lago in September for an event honoring the late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk and spent Thanksgiving with the family.

Maples and Donald met in the 1980s and Maples gave birth to their daughter, Tiffany, in October 1993. She said he proposed to her after the 1993 Long Island Railroad Shooting, which left six dead, caused him to reevaluate his life. They got married in December 1993, just two weeks after he proposed.
The couple decided to separate a few years later, in May 1997, and got officially divorced on June 8, 1999. In 2024, Maples told The Standard that her and Donald have had conversations where they forgave each other for things that happened in the past.
“Anything from the past I’ve forgiven,” Maples said. “Marriages are challenging, especially when you play them out in the media.”

Newsweek reached out to a representative for Maples for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
Maples has also been an active promoter of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign. Having been friends with Kennedy for years, Maples told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that she liked that Kennedy was working to keep rivers and water clean. After Donald was shot in July 2024, Kennedy asked Maples to connect him with Donald.
"We can breathe clean air. We can have our kids running free through the grass, [they] learn how to eat right. They learn how to live with the joy. That's what I want,” Maples told ABC. "We say make yourself healthy again."
Donald and first lady Melania Trump hosted their annual Christmas Party on Sunday night at the White House. At the party, the family celebrated the engagement of Donald Trump Jr. While giving a speech before guests, Trump Jr. said he’s not usually at a loss for words because he does “ranting and raving really well.” But, he said he wanted to thank his fiancé Bettina Anderson for saying yes to his proposal and called it a “big win for the end of the year.”
Anderson thanked Donald for hosting everyone and praised Melania’s Christmas decorations.
“This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life and I get to marry the love of my life and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” Anderson said.
