A TikTok clip has captivated internet viewers after a dog-owning woman unsure about her new kitten stumbled across a surprising sight.

In the video, she found that the integration of her new kitten might go easier than she expected when she came across her kitten lying on her dog's back. What began with her apprehension about how the kitten would adapt quickly turned into a delightful surprise.

"I hope the new kitten gets used to the dogs," the creator captioned the clip. "He loves sitting on top of the dogs." The footage showed the tiny kitten comfortably perched and lounging on top of one of the large dogs as if it were a sofa.

The visual of this dog-cat dynamic sent TikTok users into a frenzy of laughter and admiration. The comments section quickly filled with humor.

"I'm pretty sure your kitty just redefined the term 'dog bed,'" one person posted.

"Even the dog knows the rules," another person wrote. "You're stuck there now."

"Bless it," a third commented. "That dog is barely breathing to make sure kitty is happy."

Some users offered funny, albeit unneeded, advice on the introduction process: "I suggest segregation and letting them smell each other through a closed door during this difficult time," a commenter added.

The relationship between dogs and cats is often stereotyped as contentious. But, as a blog post from the American Kennel Club (AKC) points out, "for all the times you've heard the phrase 'fighting like cats and dogs,' you've undoubtedly heard of cats and dogs who are best friends."

The AKC said that, while not all dogs will get along with cats, and not all felines will get along with canines, positive relationships are absolutely possible—especially if pets are socialized with other species from a young age.

When introducing a new pet, the AKC generally advises a slow, gradual process, including keeping them separated initially to allow them to "experience each other's sounds and smells."

The AKC's guidelines suggest starting with a barrier like a baby gate, keeping the dog on a leash and making meetings "short and sweet" and always offering treats. The club also recommends training the canine for calm behavior around the feline and providing the cat with a sanctioned "dog-free space."

However, this viral video shows a lovely deviation from typical introduction strategies with the kitten making itself right at home. It is a reminder that, sometimes, the most-unexpected friendships blossom where you least expect them, defying conventional ideas about pet integration.
