The way people generate value from physical assets is changing. Digital marketplaces have already transformed industries such as hospitality, retail, and transportation by connecting owners directly with consumers and allowing existing assets to be used more efficiently. As those models continue evolving, premium vehicles are beginning to enter the same conversation.
That shift is unfolding as demand for luxury vehicles remains strong among affluent buyers. According to the 2025 Forbes Research High Net Worth Survey, wealthy individuals planning to buy a luxury vehicle expect to spend an average of $209,000, more than $83,000 higher than in 2024. The survey also found that 87 percent are more likely to purchase a luxury vehicle if it offers advanced driver-assistance systems or autonomous driving capabilities, while 76 percent prioritize brand prestige when purchasing. Those findings suggest that luxury vehicles continue to be viewed as valuable long-term assets, even as expectations around how they are owned and accessed continue to evolve.
Dubai provides a particularly relevant environment for that evolution. According to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the city welcomed a record 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024, a nine percent increase from the previous year. Continued growth in international tourism, combined with one of the world’s most recognizable luxury vehicle markets, is contributing to greater demand for flexible premium mobility while creating opportunities for marketplace platforms that connect vehicle owners, rental businesses, and travelers.

Premium mobility is beginning to reflect the same platform-based model that has reshaped other sectors of the economy. Rather than relying exclusively on company-owned fleets, digital marketplaces can connect existing vehicle owners and rental operators with customers through trusted technology. As those ecosystems mature, the conversation is increasingly shifting from ownership alone toward improving the utilization of high-value assets while expanding consumer choice.
Dubai provides a particularly relevant environment for that evolution. The city combines one of the world’s largest concentrations of premium and performance vehicles with a thriving tourism sector and an increasingly digital economy. Those characteristics create conditions where marketplace platforms can connect vehicle owners, rental businesses, and travelers through a single ecosystem built on transparency, verification, and convenience. As digital marketplaces continue maturing across industries, trust is emerging as one of the defining factors that determines whether participants are willing to engage with those platforms over the long term.
Bilawal Merani, the founder of LavishCars, believes those broader industry trends are helping redefine premium mobility. LavishCars is a premium vehicle marketplace that enables private owners and rental operators to list their vehicles while connecting customers with luxury and everyday mobility options across the UAE and the United States. According to Merani, the company’s experience operating as a rental business before expanding into a marketplace provided practical insight into the needs of vehicle owners, suppliers, and customers, ultimately shaping its decision to build a platform that connects all three groups through one trusted ecosystem.
“The opportunity extends beyond adding more vehicles,” Merani says. “It comes from building a trusted ecosystem where owners, rental companies, and customers all benefit through one platform.”
According to Merani, operating a rental business before developing a marketplace provided an important perspective on how the industry functions. Rather than viewing vehicle owners, rental operators, and customers as separate groups, he believes each plays a role in strengthening the overall mobility ecosystem. From his perspective, bringing them together through one digital platform creates broader vehicle choice for customers while giving owners and rental businesses greater visibility and opportunities to generate value from existing assets.
Merani also believes authenticity will play an increasingly important role as digital marketplaces continue expanding. According to him, customers are more willing to participate when they have confidence in the vehicles being offered and the businesses behind them. He explains that maintaining transparency throughout the rental process helps establish the trust needed for marketplace models to succeed over the long term, particularly in sectors where customers expect consistent quality and reliability.
“Authenticity is the foundation of everything we are building,” Merani says. “People are comfortable using a marketplace when they trust the platform, trust the businesses on it, and know the vehicles meet the standards they expect.”
The company’s recent expansion into Houston reflects another lesson gained through operating in different markets. According to Merani, mobility needs vary between regions, making flexibility an important consideration when building a marketplace. While Dubai remains closely associated with premium and exotic vehicles, he explains that the Houston market also includes demand for a broader range of everyday rental vehicles. The marketplace model allows that flexibility while maintaining the same objective of connecting customers with trusted vehicle providers through a single platform.
Looking ahead, Merani believes digital marketplaces will continue shaping how premium mobility evolves as more vehicle owners, rental operators, and customers participate in connected ecosystems. In his view, long-term success will depend less on expanding company-owned fleets and more on creating trusted networks that encourage participation across the industry.
“The future of this industry will be shaped by the networks companies build,” Merani says. “When technology brings people together with confidence and transparency, every participant has the opportunity to benefit.”
