With snowy conditions across the United States, people are embracing the winter wonderland with their pets, or at least trying to. One dog had other plans when his owners began building a snowman in the backyard.

Emily and her boyfriend bundled up for a cold, Chicago day—the worst start to the city's winter in 150 years—and embraced their inner child by building a snowman in the backyard. Alongside them was Nala, a 2-year-old rescue dog they adopted from an animal shelter in Kansas City when she was a puppy.

"We lived in Chicago last year, too, but didn’t get a lot of snow," she told Newsweek via TikTok. "So this was definitely one of the biggest amounts she’s seen before!"

In a video posted to Emily's TikTok account @rohloemily on December 1, the couple began forming the base of the snowman by rolling the snow across the yard, adding mounds to it as they went. But once it started to build up, Nala made her way over, smashing down on it with her paws.

Dog knocks down snowman

The dog dug through the snow, chiseling out her masterpiece as the couple stood back laughing at Nala's determination to keep the snowman out of the yard. The text on the clip read: "Sorry, no snowmen allowed."

"It was her first time trying to build a snowman, and she’s just a very playful girl and loves being included in anything and everything we do, so she just wanted to get in on the fun," Emily said.

This wouldn't be the first time a dog sabbataged a snowman. An owner recently introduced her Husky to a snowman for the first time. But instead of knocking it over like Nala, this dog went straight for the edible nose. She grabbed the carrot nose and took off running.

Viewer Reactions

The clip left TikTok users in stitches, and at the time of writing, it was viewed over 71,100 times, with 9,250 likes and 25 comments.

"HOA around here is strict," joked one person, while another said: "I agree, there's enough men here."

Defending the dog, someone wrote: "He tried to save the man y'all stuffed in the snow, he’s actually a trained rescue dog, dontcha know?"
