The Atlanta Braves struggled tremendously this year, despite the high expectations that followed them all season. They missed out on the postseason and could continue to spiral if they don't fix the roster in the offseason.

Atlanta has already begun improving the team, but it's going to need to build through the farm system if it wants to sustain success over a long period of time. Fortunately for the Braves, they have a lot of talent coming through the minor leagues right now.

Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter shared a lot of praise for 19-year-old Braves prospect John Gil this offseason.

"Gil does not turn 20 years old until May 14, but he already has 145 games between Single-A and Double-A under his belt, putting him well ahead of the developmental curve," Reuter wrote. "He hit .258/.352/.378 with 33 extra-base hits and 50 steals in 100 games at Single-A, and has looked the part of a future shortstop while also seeing some action at third base."

Gil has all the traits to be a star in the future. He has enough power to slug home runs, especially as he continues to fill out his frame, but his best trait might be his speed.

Gil is aggressive on the base paths, and it led to over 50 stolen bases this year. If he can stick at shortstop as he works through the minor leagues, he's going to be one of the more valuable prospects in Atlanta's system going forward.
