A good host tries to be polite to guests and ensure they feel welcome, but one cat seemed to miss that memo, opting instead to stare and make her owner's guest feel as uncomfortable as possible.
While staying at her friend's house in Lisbon, Portugal, recently, Katiuzca had a pair of beady eyes trained on her the entire time, as Luna the cat hardly left her alone. Despite checking on the new houseguest at all times, the white cat was sure to never get too close to the human, instead preferring to keep a safe distance by the doorway.
Katiuzca told Newsweek she was entertained by Luna's fascination with her, saying she "felt a very curious attitude from Luna" and decided to document all the times Luna came to stare at her.

Katiuzca, who doesn't wish to disclose her full name, said: "I stayed with my friend for a couple of days, and she told me she had a cat. I don't have that much experience with cats, but Luna was hilarious—even though she wouldn't come close to me. Instead, she would sit by the door and stare at me and my partner the whole time.
"As soon as we'd call her over, she would leave. And then a few minutes later, she'd come back and just stare at us again. I decided to take a picture every time she sat there and posted it on TikTok to ask my followers what they thought she was doing."

...
On February 28, Katiuzca posted the video on her TikTok account, asking, "Can anyone translate what the cat wants?" The post went viral, receiving over 133,400 views and 15,400 likes. Social media users couldn't get enough of Luna's unconventional way of treating guests.
On its website, Purina, the pet-food company, says cats have a curious nature and like to be in the know about everything that's going on. So they may feel the need to keep an eye on someone new in the house because it's out of the ordinary.
Purina also lists other reasons cats may stare blankly, including fear, frustration or even to show affection. A blank stare could also be a cat's way of expressing hunger, with the cat staring at you to tell you it's feeding time—and it doesn't want to wait a single moment longer.
In any of those instances, it's important to note the cat's body language to decipher exactly what it's feeling and how to respond to the interaction, Purina says.
Since Luna went viral, Katiuzca received an overwhelming response to the post, as many people offered their suggestions for what was going on in the cat's mind. "I have mixed opinions about it still, but I definitely know that cats have diva vibes," she told Newsweek.
Among the 100 responses to the TikTok post, one commenter said: "She's just nervous. You have to wait for them to approach you and give them treats."
Another wrote, "She's letting you know she's the owner of the house."
"She is checking you out wondering how long it staying, for ever, maybe, maybe not," a user added.
