A cat owner has left the internet in stitches after sharing a video filmed by her pet's collar camera, showing what a day in the life of a domesticated feline looks like.

The viral clip, shared on TikTok on Thursday under the username @mr.kitters.the.cat, shows the ginger feline starting out his day, walking by the edge of a trampoline in the garden. He then continues his journey, going further down the lane to meet up with a couple of other cats, who are also filming their journeys. "Places to go and people to meet," a caption shared along with the clip reads.

About halfway through the clip, the cat can be seen stopping by a tree and trying to climb up, while making some chirping noises. When the camera moves up, a squirrel is there, the perfect prey for a small feline.

If your cat is an outdoor pet, you have probably noticed how much they love chasing squirrels among the trees. But what is the cause of this behavior?

It's actually because of their innate hunting instincts, which all cats are born with, no matter their breed, temperament, or age. Even though nowadays felines may eat better food than their humans do, in nature, their ancestors had to hunt, and small animals make the perfect prey.

The cat food site Catological says that most felines adore watching small animals like birds or mice because of the instincts they inherited from their ancestors. You may even notice your cat chirping or chattering when there is potential prey in their eye line, like the ginger feline in the clip trying to entice the squirrel.

"Whenever they spot a possible prey, they become predators, whether it's just for playtime or for survival. Even if your pet is completely stiff and isn't stalking the bird by walking around the window or the TV, it could still be thinking about hunting it," the website says.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 84.4 million views and almost 10 million likes on the platform.

One user, Michael Hahn, commented: "This cat sees more friends in one day than I do in a week." And Tabea posted: "[I know] it can be dangerous but this life seems so much more fullfilling than that of an indoor cat."

Twisted_red88 added: "did this cat just have a conversation with the squirrel?"
